Debbie Richards

Debbie was born in Beaver, Pennsylvania and was raised in a Christian home. She had many contacts with foreign missionaries as a young person and God used those experiences to encourage her to seek to be involved in Christian ministry overseas. After earning a BA degree in English Literature from Nyack College, NY and attending one year at the Alliance Theological Seminary, she transferred to Columbia Biblical Seminary and Graduate School of Missions (now Columbia International University) in Columbia, South Carolina. There she recieved a MA in Intercultural Studies with a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).

In 1995 Debbie was approved by Mission to The World as a short-term worker to Japan. She spent the next three years working with the Tokyo Church Planting Team as a church planting assistant, predominantly working in the Team’s English Outreach and serving at Chiharadai Christ Church. She later applied to MTW to serve as a long-term missionary and was approved in March 1999. She currently continues her work with the Tokyo Church Planting Team.
